Advantages: gripping, thrilling
Disadvantages: true stories
This has to be one of the most gripping books I have read in the last couple of months. I saw this book in my local library. The book is written by David Thurlow, it's a book with 17 completely true stories about terrible crimes and tragedies that have taken place in East Anglia. Most people think that East Anglia is an idyllic place to live, that is free from murderers and rapists, but this book tells a completely different story. My favourite story was about a gypsy called gypsy Jack Smith; in the 60's it wasn't like today; woman could cycle along a secluded towpath and not is approached by some nutter. A woman used to use the towpath every day to get to work, one day she was cycling home, without a care in the world, the next minute a man swung out of a tree in front of her. The woman was terrified so she ran into the field, Gypsy Jack then shot her twice in the back with his shotgun, the woman wasn't dead but he then fired the shot gun into her face killing her outright, then Gypsy Jack raped the dead woman. Lucky Gypsy Jack was caught and imprisoned for life. The whole book is dedicated to stories like this. When I got home I couldn't put this book down, a read it in a day. This is one of the best reads I have had in ages.
