Advantages: In depth detail of entire journey and background to life - great pictures

Disadvantages: Not many. Repetition in going to base camp. But that is what has to be done lol

Bear Grylls journey to everest is the epitome of an awe inspiring adventure. I loved this book. From his early days of his childhood to the moment he reaches his destiny, he takes you along with him on his journey to the summit of everest. For the first time ever I realised the horrors that lie on everest. I truly felt scared for the lives of the people in the story. If there is one book I can truly get people to read it would be this one. I had no ideas what dangers he was faced with and what preparation goes into climbing Everest. This account was filled with humour, romance, danger, and adventure. I didnt want to put this book down.

I hadnt read many book before this and the only reason I read it to begin with is because I saw his TV series Born Survivor. After watching a man sleep inside a camel and eat it (in several ways) i thought that I would read about his first adventure.

Grylls writes with a unique comical style, the one that comes through in life threatening situations. His account of this expedition is so vivid that you can imagine yourself being there. Several times I was able to conjure up the image of myself on the several base camps of everest. I know that sounds stupid but that is what i could imagine sometimes.

Grylls comes close the edge of his life in more ways than one in this adventure. At a certain moment I thought he was about to die....but oh wait, he wrote the book. I just didnt realise. This just shows how much i was engulfed by the book.

Bear Grylls Facing up is 289 pages long, published by PanMacmillan. The book can be purchased from Amazon for £2.50 from a third party seller and is excellent value for money.

This book truly does give a remarkable acount of a mans journey to the summit of everest. 4.5 Stars.

Summary: A fantastic journey of Bear Grylls to the summit of mount everest. A fantasti adventure book.

I always think his name sounds like something you'd get on a menu in a canivore restaurant.
