There aren't many places in Britain that the idea for a book like this could come from, I can only really think of Liverpool and Glasgow and Alan Edge is a scouser. The tagline on the book is slightly misleading (football as a religion) because it is in fact a mixture of his two passions which are football and religion and his idea that these two things are intertwined with each other. In order to do this he tells his life story and how from his point of view all of the footballing events show a deeply religous side or vice versa.
