Meanwhile Richard is put to work in Altur'Rang, Nicci trains him and teaches him the ways of the Imperial order. However thinks don't go quite as Nicci hoped and Richards quest for freedom gathers pace. I really enjoyed this book. Was a little disapointed by the previous book but feel this one was back to the standard of Goodkinds previous works. The story introduces different things, we are taken to the Old w...more

It was the fourth book in the sword of truth series that made me realise that Terry Goodkind really could write well. The first 2 books in the series, while great books, lacked depth trying to make up for it by instead ...  Read the complete review

Lots of truly mythic characters, inventive worldbuilding, clever plotting Chirpy modern language, too many plotlines to follow at once

Engaging, magic and generally thriling . . . you could get lost in it easily None to be honest

Descriptive prose Lack of character development.

Quick pace, frenetic, ridiculous plotlines. Shallow characters, riddled with plot holes.

It's got Dragons, and Pern. A little bit of lack of direction
