Fear; the friend of exceptional people This book is like the title implies about fear and about how to control it. Geoff starts off with explaining what fear is. It's an emotion that gives us energy which enables us to deal with the situation that triggered it. Like everything this energy can be used positively or can be allowed to overwhelm you, this is called panic. The chapter continues with the many ways in which adrenaline is released and it's symptoms. The next step is to admit that the fear is there. Fear: The Friend of Exceptional People is a self help book about how to deal with fear in everyday situations. The approach it uses is that most people experience fear and don't realise what it is, which according to the book is physical side effects from the release of adrenaline. The book then goes into considerable detail about how to recognise and deal with these effects in order to resolve a situation, ultimately working up to achieving your dreams by accepting that fear will always be there but can always be dealt with.
