Feet of Clay is the nineteenth Discworld novel. Set on a flat world populated by Wizards, Dwarves, Trolls and Golems it is a place were anything can happen and often does. However, what makes this and every other Discworld novel different is that this world strangely mirrors our own. Royalty and the aristocracy are pompous; politicians self-serving and policeman necessary but loathed. Indeed the Worlds major city Ankh Morpork seems not dissimilar from London or New York. This novel is the third in what many consider “The Watch Series” of books as it centres on Ankh Morpork’s police force known as “The City Watch”. The Patrician is being poisoned, nobody ... I stopped reading Terry Pratchett books a while ago. Not for any particular reason, I just started reading more contemporary novels. When I stopped, this had just come out. When I saw it was another in the series of City Watch books, I was quite tempted as I enjoyed the previous Watch books, but still didn't buy. A couple of weeks ago I was looking around a discount bookshop and they had a large stack of Discworld novels with hefty discounts, and they had this so I decided not to miss out on the opportunity. Started reading it when I got home, and that was it, I was hooked...! As stated before, this is a book about the City Watch in Ankh-Morpork. The ... Read the complete review

Being ill is always a good excuse to get some reading done – well, in-between dealing with the kids and the minimum essential housework, of course! Having a sore throat, bunged-up nose and a headache, not to mention the dizzy spells (Oh d*mn, I just did!) – well, how about a good book to cure it all? Well, maybe not cure it, but it does help cheer me up. So onto another triumph of clever word play by the storytelling genius that is Terry Pratchett. Specifically ‘Feet Of Clay’ – a murder mystery whodunit, featuring the Watch (Guards) plus an assortment of the usual characters to be found in Ankh-Morpork – werewolves, vampires, ... Whilst wasting a lot of time sitting around in my dormitory in Moscow last month , I had the oppurtunity of reading this book not once , not twice , but thrice (what do you call four times? ). Unfortuantely no characters out of any Tim Burton film apperared but that really doesnt matter , what matters is that this book was worth reading three times over. The theme of the book centers on Prachetts idea of the "City Watch" the first book of the theme being "Guards ! Guards !" which is also brilliant (I read that only twice on the holiday in Moscow). It follows the main character Samuel Vimes of the City Watch of which (in this book) he is the ... Read the complete review

Sometimes when writing a review you feel that you are really wasting your time because there isn't an audience for it. That is how I feel in writing this one. Why? Well, as I see it, if you are a fan of Terry Pratchett's Discworld series(of which this is one) then you will either have read this, or have it on your reading list and there is nothing I or anyone else could say to dissuade you from keeping it there. If you are not a fan, then you'll have no intention of reading it and if its the first time you have heard of Pratchett or the Discworld series then you'll want to start reading elsewhere - namely, with the first in the series - The Color Of ...
