The story centres around the different animals helping the ... more  ... farmer Bob as his tractor has broken down. The chicken pick fruit, the pigs move bales of hay etc; but they soon realise that they need to earn some money, to have the tractor repaired as all the work is making them exhausted. They come up with a plan - all Fergus has to do is keep it secret.
The plan involves the animals leaving the farm for a Summer Fair and Fergus has to pretend to be the different animals so Farmer Bob doesn't realise that they are gone.

The Author Tony Maddox was born in Birmingham. He trained and worked as a graphic designer and illustrator until he realised his ambition to write children's books and had his first book "Spike the Sparrow who Couldn't Sing" published in 1989. He then developed the character of "Fergus" the farmyard dog and has written at least 9 books involving this little adorable character. The Book. First published in 2005.
