Fifty Shades of Grey - E L James
Advantages: easy to read, entertaining
Disadvantages: some repetition in word usage which can be annoying
This is not normally the kind of book I would read (I like autobiographies, novels, funny stories etc) but I was so annoyed with everyone talking about it, even the hairdresser!, that I just had to buy it when it was on offer to read it just to see what all the fuss was about...well, trust me I am so glad that I did! I liked it so much that I ended up buying the next two in the series, even getting a friend to pick one up for me when I was laid in bed ill and had finished the first one! OK so it will never win any awards for being a brilliant book or a well written plotline etc but somehow I got sucked into the story line and in a way I really did fall for the characters in it. I must admit that although I am by no means a prude, I did find the love scenes a bit trashy and after a while I stopped really reading those bits and just flicked forward to the next bit of the story. Although they are fairly necessary to the plot I don't think you need to really read all the 'ins and outs' as it were to get the drift of whats going on at times. As I say, i ended up reading all 3 books and I must admit I kind of missde the characters afterwards. I've kept the books so will probably re-read them at some point. All in all a good read which does suck you in to the plot and very enjoyable.
Summary: a good read if you want something titillating and not heavy
