The Fight is based on an article the journalist Norman Mailer was asked to write for Esquire magazine on the Heavyweight title right in Zaire, 'The Rumble in the Jungle' between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman. The fight itself is renowned as one of the great fights of all time between the showman Ali and the young and enormously strong pretender Foreman, Mailer has unrivaled access to both camps and builds respect and friendship with both fighters, this is great as it allows you to see beyond the hype of the fight which is what most of us are aware of. 'The Fight' is the late writer Norman Mailer's classic account of the 1975 World Heavyweight Championship bout between champion George Foreman and challenger Muhammad Ali in Kinshasa, Zaire. Mailer was there to expertly cover this event and infiltrated both camps to get an inside picture of the famous encounter. The book is his account of the build-up and fight, the personalities, the entourages, the intrigue, 'Bantu' philosophy and the extraordinary experience of being in Africa for such a spectacular and unique event. ***I realize that this review is in the wrong place. When I suggested that this book be added to the sight Dooyoo informed me that it was already here. I pointed out that it should be in boxing and they have promised to move it as soon as they have finished the work on the new back end. Please bear with them.*** After seeing the recent film on Muhammad Ali and writing a review for Dooyoo, I was advised to read this book.
