Advantages: Colourful, Informative, Clear, Lots of Artwork.
Disadvantages: May Be A Tad Expensive These Days
Now I'm not usually a fan of strategy guides, infact I think Final Fantasy X was the first game I bought a Strategy guide for. Not because I was stuck, I had already finished the game, more of a collectors item but it proved to be a lot more useful than I had ever though. It was originally one of those, buy it and stick it on your shelf purchases until it becomes worth something but in the end I was unable to sell it on ebay or anywhere else as it had practically been worn out through overuse.
The Guide itself features a walk through of the entire game, giving strategies for every boss where items are hidden and resolutions to every puzzle. Now if your stuck in the game this is going to help, but to be honest its not something that you couldn't find online. The chapters I found that I used most were the Secrets, it gives you clear instructions on how to unlock a whole host of special items, spells, skills and weapons all complied into one chapter. While you may argue that you could find this on the internet also, I would pay the money to have them all in one place, so easy to access and to read, as trust me, you will be within these pages for some time. It will literally take you hours to complete the game to 100% and this guide helps to cut down that time significantly. Whether your after Wakka's Overdrive or a new monster for the Monster Arena, it has it all. The book also comes with and introduction to each character including background information, although its nothing you wouldn't know from playing through the game.
The guide looks gorgeous, each page comes with screen shots from the game making easier to identify what exactly it is your looking for or to do. There is also artwork throughout the book making it even more collectable.
If you enjoyed Final Fantasy X I would recommend purchasing this guide. It may be quite expensive now as you can only purchase it from private sellers, however it is well worth the money.
