If you enjoy completing games 100% then this guide is an absolute must have item. I only bought this guide once I had pretty much completed the game, but I restarted and played through the game again using the guide.

For the actual story mode itself the guide is perfect. It has maps of every area in the game, with all hidden treasures and side quests marked. It also goes into detail on the monsters in each area and which specific armour and weapons should be used. If you are stuck on a boss fight then they guide tells you at which point you should heal, magic, attack, summon, its spot on.

As I said before if you want to do all the optional side quests then the guide is essential, as you probably wouldn't even know half of them existed without it. It gives precise information on how to obtain all of the ultimate weapons and overdrives, how to find and defeat the hardest enemies in the game.

Overall this is a must have, so much so that I've bought it 3 times.

Summary: necessary
