While designing and planting a herb garden I discovered this gem of a book by Deni Bown. I own many books on herbs but this is probably my favourite. Deni Bown is a well known gardening writer with a passion for plants which is clearly demonstrated in this book. Fine Herbs is not a general guide to culinary herbs, of which there are plenty anyway, but an introduction to 40 varieties - all chosen because they have some special added virtue, such as scent or beauty. These are the creme de la creme of herbs chosen by an expert.
