Mercedes lackey makes you see everthing with the way she writes. She has an amazing imagination.
Firebird is an awesome book about a man's search for the firebird. He ends up on the adventure of a lifetime. He goes places and does things noone can believe like seeing the legendary firebird and being able to telepathically speak to it, especially not him. The firebird is a legendary mystical bird with great strentghs. It is said that the bird bonds with the human he was picked for. It can help the person it bonds with by being able to scare off animals with it's telepathic ability, by calling for help from other animals and by being able to communicate with other firebirds. This bird was picked for GUESS WHO? Of course it was picked for the young man Codar in the book.
That is the only predictible part of this entire book.
Codar is a young nobleman who has never been out of the confining walls of the castle he lives in. He chooses to leave home to find out what life is really like. He travels into manhood by running away from home. He meets and mates with a beautiful savage named Nystra. This is when he learns about the firebird. She has a lifebond with another firebird. After lifebonding with his Nystra, himself, and the two firebirds have many dangerous and rewarding adventures.
If you like adventurous, imaginative books read this one it's great.
