Advantages: Photographs rather than illustrations

Disadvantages: Full price is expensive if you want the full set

There is a series of books titled "First Book of" including Words, Numbers, Shapes. Although their cover price is £3.99, Asda have sold them for 99p each. It is a super range of books which use photographs rather than illustrations of items such as food, toys, vehicles, etc.

Both of my sons relate to the books and get satisfaction in pointing to the correct object.

Interestingly, the books have also proved useful during the early days of talking in allowing children to point to an object which they want, eg. an apple.

The ISBN number for the "Words" book is 1-84084-024-2 and the publisher is Dempsey Parr.

I'd recommend this series to anyone with young children and would suggest you look out for it at the reduced price in supermarkets.
