Advantages: Interesting thoughts
Disadvantages: The Bushwacking industry.
America shot the fourth plane down; well that's what I think anyway. No one would have blamed Bush if he made that brave decision and lives would have been saved on the ground in Washington DC. If the Whitehouse or Capital Building (the one with the big white dome and the steps) had been flattened the effects of 911 could have been even more serious. Fortunately the Twin Towers had been insured for 6 billion bucks just two months before and the plane that hit the Pentagon and left that tiny hole, hit the only part of the building that was empty and had reinforced walls. Flight 93 also left a similar small impact zone in the Pennsylvanian farmland. America did have some luck that day.
The problem with the shoot down theory is America is a litigious society, and with one in every 99 people there some sort of lawyer, if the US Air force did pop that American Airlines 757 out of the air and then have to own up to it then they would also be liable and that would be extremely expensive lawsuits coming from the passengers and crews family and employees. That is the way America works to heel the wounds. Some of the passenger on Flight 93 that got cell phone calls out also reported seeing firearms on the plane, which would mean the airline would again be liable for their deaths under airline insurance rules, another reason for goverment departments involved to pump the legend of Flight 93 that it was box cutters and crazed Arabs that did this. Proof that America is obsessed with getting compensation and hard cash over honor and the truth is that of the 10,000 legal claims of bad health and ailments made by the Ground Zero clean up teams of the various emergency and sanitation teams, some 3000 cases were found to be made up and 500 people have admitted they were not ill or even at the site, but desperate to cash in on the billion dollar compensation.
The alternatives for the Bush Administration to hype up were what probably happened, the spin machine quickly into action to firm up the 'Lets Roll' story. Although it's feasible the passengers did wrestle control of the plane at the last moment the evidence presented in this book does question that theory with reasonable thoroughness. What makes this book interesting is it was written after the Zacarias Moussaaui trial finished in late 2006, the successful prosecution of the alleged 20th, 911 hijacker, comparing information and evidence presented in books and by the government before the trial and then the actual facts presented in court as evidence from the trial. The two contradict themselves and the photos and research in the book back that up. The CCTV photo that shows the three hijackers in a gas station buying everyday things clearly shows the security camera time and date in the top corner as October 11th, 2001, one month after the event. Now we know the guys are dead by any scenario by then but that same photo was used against Zacarias in the trial but with the date clipped off by whomever.
If anything this book does make you think hard at times that evidence is clearly being messed around with over 911 to suit political means (a dodgy dossier or two) and that fact we have seen hardly any CCTV evidence of the 911 perpetrators or impacts since, offers enough mystery to keep the conspiracy of conspiracies alive. How can the prosecuting lawyer's present incriminating phone transcripts from 'BEFORE' 911 of Mohammed Attas calls if they didn't know he was involved before the event to record them? That is one of many big and unanswered questions in the book. We also know four of the hijackers were known to the FBI and were tailed the months BEFORE 911 and didn't everything possible to get noticed by various levels of security. Why would they expose themselves to mission failure? Were they patsy's in a bigger more sophisticated picture we don't ever want to contemplate? We know the west got into Iraq to contribute to the deaths of over 500,000 people on false pretences so why not one percent of that total on 911?
The official version of events are still a theory because all that were there on Flight 93 are dead and the account of what might have occurred is only strengthened by the surge of recent movies, documentaries and books about that terrible day. This books objective by self styled conspiracy theorists expert Roland Morgan, apart from making money, he just as guilty as everone else on that score, is to explore the official story against the alternatives, including the plane being shot down, or the more absurd claim the planes were empty and remote controlled, the passengers offloaded elsewhere and enjoying secret lives in Atlantis or somewhere.
The 200 pager opens with three or four chapters on the passengers and actual and alleged phone calls made from Flight 93 to relatives and friends and in one case a complete stranger. Two of those people who merely received calls actually wrote their life stories off the back of it and made one million bucks each!
AA 93 was the only plane that managed to get passenger calls out before impact. Some say cell phones can't operate at altitudes the plane was at when the calls were supposed to have been made. Roland Morgan also introduces a religious bent to his version of events at this point, claiming some sort of right wing Christian fundamentalist plot by a Pentagon group called 'Ventura' that helped stoke the idea the plane passengers thought back and it was there God against Islam that was going to be the showdown, helping the Bush people to whip up hysteria for the eventual attack on Iraq as well as Afghanistan, effectively making it a Holy War. Until September 11th no one even noticed a real Muslim threat to the US outside the Middle East.
An intriguing part of Flight 93 and that day was how quickly the names off all the hijackers were released to the public, some 34 hours later to be precise, purely going by the flight manifest. Later investigations discovered some of the hijackers had used false IDs to get on the planes, so why release names so quick? Was it just to let America know who the bad guy's religion was rather than motives? In fact all they did was name every foreign Muslim on the four planes. Mohammed Atta, the so called lead hijacker, for some reason took an early morning connecting flight to Boston-Logan, an extremely risky move if you think about it, especially as his checked in luggage contained confessions and all manner of incriminating evidence, never put on Flight 93 for some reason. Was his bag planted as evidence for the prosecution? Another of the hijackers, Mohammed Jarah, supposedly preparing for the greatest terror atrocity in living memory, was pulled over by the cops the day before for dangerous driving. That's some blending in. His family still denies he was remotely devout as far as Islam went and was preparing for his wedding.
The middle part of the book questions all manner of chunks of the 'official story, again cross-referencing the court trial with earlier evidence in the 911 Commission Report. 'Operation Northwood', the now infamous white paper doing the rounds on the internet conspiracy theorists websites appears in the tale at this point, the paper supposed to be a plan by the CIA in the 1960s to overthrow Cuba by planning a similar style 911 terror attack against American citizens and then blame Castro to force a war. There's a 50-50 vote on whether the paper is a fake but if it isn't it is intriguing and quite scary to know government agencies do think so Machiavellian when it comes to the big picture, what ever the human cost.
The final part of the book is the last minutes of Flight 93, the author claiming there three lost minutes from the official chronology. At first the plane had officially hit the ground at 10:03 but it soon became 10:06, three minutes going astray by 2005. Could the voice box recordings have shown the passengers had got control of the plane and could survive, reason enough to shoot down the plane if this was an inside job. Or maybe the box records the missile impact. We know on the same day the military just so happened to be running an exercise called Operation Northern Vigilance, bizarrely an operation to shoot down hostile inbound hijacked planes. Who ever planned the attacks new that would be the ideal confusion to aid the mission's chances of success, which were always pretty low if we are honest? With over 24 military bases on the eastern seaboard it's pretty certain at least one fighter jet could have got one shot off. It was an incredible 83 minutes between Tower one being hit and Flight 93 going down. The US has the three biggest air forces in the world-the navy, the army and the marines, most of those on the eastern side of America, yet they couldn't shoot down at least one of these planes?. The US military had managed to scramble 83 previous interceptions of unidentified planes over US airspace in the year 2000. In fact they managed to get alongside tragic golfer Payne Stewarts private plane and see the frosted windows when it depressurized. That was proof enough it was a perfunctory task. How could they be so incompetent on 911? Some of these pilots must have flown thousands of similar ID raids over Iraq in 1991.And why did none of the airliners manage to get hijack alerts off?
The Pentagons budget alone is more than Russia's gross national profit in the whole of the 1990s and would have no trouble keeping any sort of involvement in 911 very quiet. Witnesses at the crash site over Pennsylvania reported seeing a mystery white plane over the impact zone only just after the plane went down. They also report that the Flight 93 was rolling around erratically before the impact, which would indeed suit a pilot struggle at the controls, but also a missile taking out one of the engines. We can't escape the fact minimal wreckage was found at the crash site and one engine fell one mile short of it.
-Conclusions-
Was America simply caught with its pants down and so its lax security exposed, the twins towers its front teeth humiliatingly knocked out, or was it a case of see no evil, hear no evil and let it happen as they didn't feel they could stop it. The Bush Administration probably knew an attack was coming and realizing if it happened it was their big chance to reshape the middle-east and secure their oil supplies for the next hundred years as India and China increasingly suck up what's left. We know the FBI presented Condeccia Rice a folder on real fears of the threat of an airliner or plane being used as a bomb against American interests in the month before 911. The current price of $146 a barrel would suggest oil has peaked and they had to do something. We do know Saddam had signed huge exploration deals with France, Russia and China for that oil and was going to sell it in Euros, further undermining the US economy. You ca bet your life that if those three countries had gone to the UN and gave false evidence of Saddams WMD threat you can bet the Americans would have ironically tried to disprove the existence of the threat to stop them getting Saddams oil. But they didn't need a war did they as they had already signed deals.
Where the book perhaps struggles is the author quotes sources from Wikipedia and Imdb.com of all places to prove his thesis, not exactly the paragon of truth. He is also writing things and facts around his version of events and that again takes from the books integrity. But he doesn't discredit his ideas by going to far down the line of remote control planes and missiles hitting the Pentagon silliness, definitely the moment most people stop listening and start calling guys like him a crank.
What ever happened to Flight 93 there are huge gaps in the official version of events, mainly because no one survived, the operation almost perfect. 75% of Muslims thinks 911 was a Zionist plot to disaccredit them because it was so clever whilst 11% of Americans still think they will find WMD in Iraq because they are not so clever. With the ten multinationals that put Bush in power by bankrolling him making nearly one trillion dollars from Iraq and Afghanistan and the whole 'War on Terror' thing someone certainly had something to gain if those planes hit their targets, just as American military planes have hit their target sin the oil rich new wild west. Can you put your hand on your heart and discount the Bush Administrations complicity here in some way?
