A Wind in Summer,by Angela Thorn,a very good read indeed.I was impressed by Angela's story telling capabilities,and the way in which the story moves along without getting bogged down in lots of finite detail such as the colour of the wallpaper in someone's house. It is based on a family living in the years just preceding the Second World War, and follows their fortunes, good and bad, into the war and after. What I liked was the sense that the people could be related to friends and relatives that we may know, and although on the surface all was well, in a finacial aspect, dig slightly below the surface and there are tensions, jealousies,anger and disppointments that we all come ...
