Never before have I read such a passionate description of Gaia, Mother Earth, home planet of a life form called 'mankind', being blown to pieces! After having read 'Eon', I already knew that Greg Bear was a man who, not unlike Stephen King, was able to write in a way that didn't allow you to let go before you've finished reading the book.
