Advantages: many, dosn't show age

Disadvantages: find out yourself

The first time I discovered the Foundation trilogy was through the BBC radio dramatisation, but having enjoyed that I quickly immersed myself in Asmiov's books.

I wasn't disappointed in the slightest! 'Foundation' does show it's age, both in style and in length (how many SF novels weigh in at under 400 pages these days?), but the totally original plot and strong characters, not to mention the break-neck pace, drag the reader through the years.

And that is this book's one drawback. The sudden breaks of many decades do lead to some feelings of incoherence.

Nonetheless, this is a SF classic, and essential reading for all Asimov followers - and other SF fans besides. Recommended.
