This is the story of two men, each from very different backgrounds. Both with the same dream of building an empire in the media world. Their individual stories are told in the engaging way that only Jeffrey Archer can. Both men build their empires in different ways and you will probably, by the end of the book, have already chosen one that you thinks should be the victor. The book takes you from a war torn world of the second world war to the modern time. Not only is it a good read it also gives some insight into the world of the newspaper empires that are built and lost. The Fourth Estate follows the fortunes of two men who are both trying to build up the biggest newspaper empire in the world. One of them is a Jewish East European immigrant who comes to live in Britain, the other is the son of a rich Australian newspaper proprietor. In the course of their business dealings they become bitter enemies...
