In my former life many moons ago before the kids and the otherhalf i got very interested in aromatherapy and all things natural, I was recommended this book by a good friend and back then used it for the beauty remedies and enjoyed experimenting with different essential oils. Then again refering back to my book when the boys were small for different problems. And even the otherhalf has been known to take a peek when he has had a little problem he wants sorting! There is a well-thumbed, dog-eared paperback book on my shelf and it is called The Fragrant Pharmacy written by Valerie Ann Worwood. This is a good basic reference book for the beginner in the use of essential oils and aromatherapy. It is split into 18 sections, which deal with the use of essential oils in all walks of life, and for all ages. Medicines Out of the Earth This section introduces the reader to essential oils and their origins and uses. It also gives a guide as to how to best use the book. This paperback which is priced £8.99 (ISBN number 0-553-40397-4) is a wonderful handbook which no one interested in aromatherapy should be without. First of all it is very think! Therefore bursting with loads of useful information, excellent synergies and 'unusual' ways to utilise essential oils. Some of the more useful sections include a basic aromatherapy oil kit, which outlines a good 'starter' set of some of the most useful oils.
