Fragile Things another of Neil Gaiman's anthologies of stories and poems, this time focussing more on the relationships of people, and not-quite people that live amongst us. If you have never read Neil Gaiman before, this would be an excellent introduction, as Fragile Things gives readers a taste of fantasy in stories like "Sunbird" - a tale about a group of gastronomic adventurers, as well as Gaiman's skill at making his characters accessible to his audience, as in "Closing Time" and "Good Boys Deserve Favours", anecdotal accounts that anyone will be able to relate to. Neil Gaiman is a superb author who has written many celebrated works such as Stardust which was recently made into the hit movie of the same title and books such as American Gods and Smoke and Mirrors which are also reviewed here on dooyoo, have received many awards. He also co wrote on of my favourite books, Good Omens, with Terry Pratchett, a fantastic science fiction tale also reviewed many times here on dooyoo, worth a look. So with a pedigree such as this, my wife bought me the Fragile Things book for Christmas feeling that she was on safe ground and I was pleased to receive the book as I have enjoyed many of the afore mentioned books already.
