What do the authors Timothy Holme, Magdalen Nabb, Michael Dibdin and Donna Leon have in common? They are all British or American, lived or still live in Italy and wrote or still write thrillers set in Italy. One could see them as a kind of ‘school’, only that they don’t work together, maybe not even know each other. To be sure, the relationship between Germany and Italy has always been much closer than the one between Great Britain, the USA and Italy; the countries being nearer to each other is only one reason.
