Hare tells them that they must share the wood with Rat and that everyone has a right to live there. Frog and Rat become quite good friends and Rat tells him all about his adventures while travelling.
The other animals still don't like him much but even they have to admit that he is useful when he saves Pig's house from burning down and rescues Hare from drowning. The animals gradually all become friends and find out that Rat is a great asset to the woods.

He has written a whole series of books about this delightful character and we have had quite a few of them now. ***The Story*** The story starts with a nervous Pig who notices that there is a stranger camped at the edge of the woods.
