Crowned Review More Aunt Sally than Scarecrow (1116 words)

randomly agreed a swap by shutting my eyes and pointing, as I had turned down the previous five requests due to a lack of choice. Two days later, Scarecrow by Matthew Reilly turned up. "Breathless action.....Explosive stuff" the Daily Mirror comments shouted out on the back cover and coupled with the synopsis I was actually quite intrigued and looking forward to what looked a promising read. If, like me, you are a fan of Australian author Matthew Reilly, you will not be disappointed with his latest offering The Six Sacred Stones. As with all his other books, once started, I couldn t put it down. This book sees the return of Captain Jack West, adventurer, commando and owner of two master s degrees in ancient history. He and his dedicated team all first appeared in the author s previous novel "Seven Ancient Wonders" which I also enjoyed. In this outing, the team s task is to save life on earth from being destroyed. It may appear a seemingly impossible task, but not to Jack and his loyal cohorts. The team discover the one thing that can ...

First introduced to us in Matthew Reillys Seven Ancient Wonders", the Rambo/James Bond/Indiana Jones based super- soldier Jack West returns along with the his always ready team of adventurers. But this time, they are confronted by an impossible (yawn.......) challenge. A mysterious ceremony has set off a catastrophic countdown, the climax of which being the end of all life on Earth (at least James Bonds enemies simply want to rule the world!!). However, as you may guessed, there is one last hope - Jack West. Because, if Jack and his team can trace, understand and rebuild (with one eye on the rapidly ticking countdown clock complete with big, red numbers and the ...
