Premium Review Gangs - Ross Kemp: Ross Kemp at his hardest! (Easy!) (1735 words)
by - written on 09/09/08 (Very useful, 109 readings)
Rating:

Anyone familiar with my book reviews will know that I am a chick lit and romance book lover, I occasionally stray from that path towards the vampire genre, but generally come back to the old and trusted, so the book I will now review is something that I would not normally choose! The book I will now review is "Gangs, by Ross Kemp" I mentioned in passing a couple of weeks ago to my sisters boyfriend that I had watched the series that went with the book on sky one. What I actually meant was that my husband watched it and with us only having sky digital in one room and a television in the bedroom that started whistling after being on for more ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review GANGS - ROSS KEMP (427 words)
by - written on 25/07/09 (Very useful, 20 readings)
Rating:

GANGS is the excellent book by Ross kemp to go with his Bafta award winning television series on SKY ONE. The book goes into more detail about the experiences Kemp went through across the globe meeting some very dangerous gangs. The book is split into seven chapters each on the area he is visiting. 1) rio de janiero - Kemp meets gangs in the Shanty Towns where the environment is too disgusting to describe and the crimes are even worse. 2)NEW ZEALAND - Kemp meets Maouri Criminals who tatoo their faces. Kemp becomes really good friends with one of the men he meets. 3) EL SALVADOR - Kemp travels to El Salvador to meet the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Gangs - Ross Kemp: Lives up to the bafta award winning TV show! (259 words)
by - written on 29/06/09 (Very useful, 12 readings)
Rating:

This book is based on the bafta award winning first series of Ross Kemp on gangs originally shown on Sky. I loved the series, but my parents haven't got Sky, so I purchased this book for my Dad as I thought he would like it. I just hoped that it lived up to the TV show! The book starts off with an introduction chapter, which includes iformation that you just do not get in the TV shows. I thought the series had been written then Ross Kemp was picked to do it becuase of his hard man image in Eastenders. This was not the case, interestingly it was Ross Kemps idea, and that makes it all seem more genuine, that his curiosity and thirst for knowledge is true and not ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Insightful and Fascinating (206 words)
by - written on 13/01/09 (Useful, 21 readings)
Rating:

I am completely fascinated by this series and I have to say there is not a single weakness with the show and anyone who believes there is, well I have one question. Would you put yourself out there in front of some of the worlds hardest gangsters, some of the most volatile and unpredictanle men and women on the planet? No, didn't think so. I have a new found respect for Ross Kemp as he puts himself (And the film crew) in front of gangs from El Salvador, Cape Town, St Louis and Moscow. He tries to infiltrate as high up as he can get to try and understand what makes these people tick, and this is what makes this series so good. At no stage does he try to write a one ...  Read the complete review
