This latest offering from successful crime author Jeffrey Deaver offers something a little different; present once more is the familiar theme of cat and mouse and a race against time used in many of his novels but this time the setting is not present day New York but instead pre-second world war Germany. Add to this that the main character is more of an anti-hero; a button man hired by the American goverment to take out the man chiefly responsible for Germany's secret rearmament plans and we are presented with an altogether different Deaver to the one to which we have become accustomed.
