This is the compelling sequal to the bestseller " I Know Why The Caged Bird SIngs". Having survived the war , Maya now finds herself facing the trials and tribulations of motherhood. At only 17 she finds it a great struggle. She's isolated from her family because of the baby, she finds herself drifting between transient jobs anywhere she could, shops, resaurants & nightclubs. As well as embarking on a series of affairs. In the end she feels she has no options left so turns to prostitution & narcotics. Somehow eventhough nothing is going right she overcomes this.
