George and the Dragon is a tale which most of us are familiar with. The mighty knight George defeats (or even slays) the brutal dragon, earning honor amongst his men and the kingdom. The story has been written again, this time with a new twist. It is still along the same lines of 'little' defeating 'big', but now the accidental hero has a tail! There is a huge, mighty red dragon dominating the lands. It lives in a dark cave in a far off place, and comes to terrorise the people. This book tells the story of a fearsome dragon who causes mayhem and destruction wherever he goes... and the only thing he is scared of... Mice. As George the mouse finds out. This book starts by reading like a list of all the terrible things the dragon gets up to, like burning down forests, or smashing a hole in the walls of castles. Gradually the story switches to George the mouse's point of view, eventually listing all the things he has to eat with the Princess he has saved from the dragon. George and the Dragon An amusing spin off from the story of George and the Dragon as we know it…ie knight with sword killing a dragon. This book, however does indeed have a scary dragon, but the hero, far from being a knight in shining armour, is a mouse called George. ~~Story and Illustrations~~ The scene is set as we enter a landscape of high and rocky mountains and move into a “deep, deep valley in a dark dark cave”” (ooh!!
