George Lucas has created a myth for himself. The "Star Wars" films have made him a billionaire and he seems an elusive figure in the film world. To millions he is the man who is almost god-like, but there is more to him than "Star Wars". John Baxter's "George Lucas" is an excellent unofficial biography in which he explores not only Lucas' life but also all the films he has produced, written and done the special effects for (Industrial Light and Magic). Star Wars buffs will love this one, lots of insight on the man and his work as well as anecdotes about the actors and industry. For non-Star Wars trilogy fans (there aren’t that many) its still a solid read with lots to digest and learn about one of the worlds most elusive and fastidious directors. People don’t realize that Lucas has made only five movies in thirty years, that’s pretty selfish and poor considering how good the guy is. Saying that, his greedy return to the franchise in the bland Phantom Menace was a flop in my opinion, why fix or add to it if it ain’t broken.
