Advantages: fun

Disadvantages: none

This is one of those books that is just bizarre but lovely. It's about a giraffe who can't dance. He enters a talent contest and gets laughed off the stage, only to be taught how to dance by a cricket: simple!

The language is fun in this book; the rhythm and metre has a tribal feel to it, and you can't help but chant it. It's a fun and imaginative story which encourages little ones to persevere and not listen to negative criticism: all good stuff.

My favourite bit is the lovely illustrations; bright and colourful, they fill the whole page every page. It's always a firm favourite for kids to see pictures of animals and animals abound in this book. It's great to see my son's face light up as we see the different animals.

If you liked it, try All Afloat in Noah's Boat, created by the same people.

All in all, a lovely kiddie's book with a strong message.

Summary: do it
