One of my favourite authors is without a doubt Jacqueline Wilson. She has such a unique style of writing, which appeals to my taste. She seems to reach out to her readers with the emotional stories and lifelike characters. One of my favourite books is Girls In Love. Girls in Love is a story about three teenage girls; Ellie, Nadine and Magda. Magda always has boys falling at her feet, and even gothic Nadine has boys chasing after her now and again. Though poor Ellie never seems to get a look-in. She pretends her penpal is a gorgeous boyfriend of hers, but when a real boy comes into her life, how will she handle things? This particular book is aimed ... Read the complete review

Jacqueline Wilson has written books for adults, but for last 20 years she has mostly been writing for young people. She has an understanding of the way modern children of today live and the problems they face. Her books are fun to read. Some of the books she writes has elements of sadness, but they always include a sense of humour. Girls in love is part of a trilogy. Other books in the trilogy: Girls Under pressure and Girls out late. What is the book about? -------------------------- This book is about three girls who are best friends and each want a boyfriend. In the end they all get a boyfriend. Ellie meets a boy called Dan when ... Read the complete review

Jacqueline Wilson's "Girls In Love" is passionate, funny and so so page-turning. It is a part of a series of books by the successful Britsh award-winning authoress, who created teenager "Tracy Beaker", who you may have seen on your screens. Likewise, Girls In Love featured in episodes in 2004, which i remember taping and watching over and over again like theres no tommorrow. The story follows 13/14 year old Ellie, her friends stylish Madga and gothy Nadine, lovesick Dan, plus family: stepmum Anna, fat Dad and annoying lil-bro who is nicknamed "Eggs". I felt very grown up as a youngster reading Wilson's ... Read the complete review

This is the first in a series of books following Ellie, a year nine, and her best friends Magda and Nadine. This is a great book for young teenagers as it deals with complicated issues of growing up without being too heavy, condescending or boring (a difficult balance). Whilst the style and assumptions can get a bit annoying - all Jacqueline Wilson's characters seem to share a massive obsession for McDonald's for some unknown reason - the characters are realistic and lovable. Even years on, I still come back to this book for light relief and giggles. The story itself is well-structured and the characters are developed fully. It tells the story of ... This book is one in a set of three about the same three girls. The girls are all going through typical teenage worries - boys, nagging parents, weight issues, sex, school etc. Girls in Love focuses on the love and relationahip issues that can affect teenage girls. The three friends are each going though their own love trials. I think this is a valuable book for teenage girls to read as it shows that they are not the only one going through these tribulations, and that their feelings are perfectly normal. The book covers lots of different situations from being stood up to not liking your best mate's bloke. Therefore most teenage girls reading this book will be ... Read the complete review
