A collection of 31 short stories from some of the best-selling female authors around! All a perfect length to be read in less than 30 minutes, brilliant if like me you will read for hours despite having masses to do. This way you can limit yourself to one story at a time! There are stories from Fiona Walker (Snap Happy), Lisa Jewell (Ralph’s Party), Wendy Holden (Simply Divine), Adele Parks (Playing Away), Pauline McLynn (Mrs Doyle in Father Ted), Victoria Routledge (Kiss Him Goodbye), Anna Maxted (Getting Over It), as well as many, many more. With the stories covering e-mail romances, alien life forms in America, the lifestyles of the rich and ... Read the complete review

This collection of short stories was first published in 2000 in aid of the charity War Child. The list of authors contributing to this book reads like a Who's Who of chick lit: Marian Keyes Lisa Jewell Wendy Holden Amy Jenkins Chris Manby Candace Bushnell Freya North Cathy Kelly Patricia Scanlan Josie Lloyd Jenny Colgan Jane Green Isabel Wolff Fiona Walker Chances are, if you're a twenty or thirty-something female who enjoys a good bit of chick lit, then you'll have read books by these authors before. I happen to have many books by this collection of authors sitting on my bookshelves ... Read the complete review

I have finally managed to tear myself away from a brilliant new book called 'Girls Night In'. This is the ultimate chill out book. Get yourself a glass of wine, lay back relax and read. Girls night in is a collection of short stories which take approx. 30-60 minutes to read. The book is written by various female writers, so there is something in here to suit everyone. One of the stories "Pull me in the pullman carriage' is based on 1 girl,1 man and 1 carriage, need i say more except how on earth did she get her leg up againest that window . Some of these stories are true to life and some of us can relate to them, others are just pure fantasy. This is a ... Read the complete review

A cackling hen is what I would describe myself when I read this book! As someone who does not normally buy 'new' books (I like to hunt in charity shops!), I was reluctant to spend the money on something I may not even like. But when I noticed that some of the money made from the sales of this book went to charity, I thought "what the heck!", so off I trundled to the shops to buy it. I liked the fact that it was all short stories, sometimes it's nice to have a quick read in the bath or on a train journey without wondering when you are going to get around to reading the rest of it. The stories are from different authors, all who ... Read the complete review

This is corker of a book and i walked past it about 10 times before finally reading it! The problem is that it doesn't state obviously enough what it is, you only learn that it is a collection of stories and not a naff sounding novel by reading the back. This book "girls night in" contains a number of short "ish" stories by some of the most popular and hottest female authors around. Marian Keyes who wrote "Lucy Sullivan is getting married", "Rachel's Holiday" and the recent "last chance saloon" has a story, Jane Green one of my favourite authors ("bookends", "straight talking", "Jemima ...
