As some of you might know I am currently on a disability studies course but I was previously on a GNVQ Advanced in Health and Social Care course. The book that I am doing this opinion I think come a close second to the Advanced Health and Social Care by CTAD. This book is aimed at people who have brief or very limted knowledge about Health and Social Care. This book can be used as a textbook, for courses like GNVQ Advanced in Health and Social Care, and also courses like GCSE Biology and information technology. ( As there are some units in this book on the physical aspects of health and social well-being) . (I personally used it for both, I have also used this book for the HND course that I am presently on). It can also be picked up and read by anyone who wants to read about different aspects of Health and Social Care, ranging from human growth and development to method’s for promoting and protecting health and social well being. . I bought this book because it is very detailed and I found it to be very detailed and it also has great pictures to accompany the text that is written in this book. This book was one of many different health and social care books that the course tutors, recommended it to me. At the beginning of the chapters in the book, it gives you a brief paragraph of what is in the chapter, with key words that are highlighted in green. Synopsis of This Book This book gives information on the eight mandatory units that Health and Social Care students have to cover. This book helps produce work that match evidence indicator requirements that Health and Social Care students have to produce. Lets go into the main chapters of this book. This chapter of this book I found very useful because it tells you how to use and how to interpret people and your own self body language. It also covers, barriers to communication, body movements in interpersonal interaction, optimizing effective communication, empowerment, and also making recommendations for improvements in interaction. Physical Aspects of Health and Social Care This chapter of this book covers subjects like growth and development, normal body ranges and also structures and systems in the human body. Educating for Health and Social Well-being This section of the book is heavily influenced by Health Promotion. I Personally found this chapter boring and long winded. This chapter covers in detail, what is health, what factors affect health, what is health education, who provides health education, promoting healthy living practices, analysing the main aspects of a health promotion campaign and the methods used and also the reasons, sources for sources of and methods used in health education campaigns. Also in this book are:- Evidence collection points- to help the reader develop their portfolio, Fast Facts- to provide a quick reference section and to provide help for the end of unit tests, Case Studies- this showed me how to link the theory side of health and social care to practice on work placement. At the end of each chapter there are multiple choice questions to help you with the end of unit tests.
