Clare Dowling was not a name I had come across before, but when a friend passed Going It Alone on to me, I thought I would give it a go. She really enjoyed it, and we tend to have similar views on chick lit so I had quite high expectations. The book screams chick lit from the cover - which is baby blue with a flowery edge and an alarm clock on the front. The book is written in third person style and is 438 pages long. The heroine of the story is Millie - a 39 year old with a frantically ticking biological clock. I'm a bit of a sucker when it comes to the cheap books in the Supermarket when I do my weekly shop! I can't resist the almost half price offers off the RRP so when something catches my eye, it more often that not ends up in my trolley! One such book was "Going it Alone" by Clare Dowling. I was a tad dubious because I'd read one of her novels before and thought it was average, but thought a few years on maybe she'd improved as a writer. I really am glad I gave her another go, as I loved this book very much.
