Advantages: Reliable and Easy-To-Follow
Disadvantages: Expensive
A wiseman once said: 'You're are not an adult until you can nourish yourself' or something along those lines...
Upon fleeing the nest to take on the 'Big Bad World' I realised that I seriously needed to improve my culinary skills.
I came across this Step-By-Step Cookbook at a book fair and decided that it was a worthwhile purchase.
It most certainly was. I can now 'knock-up' almost anything in the kitchen fridge using the rudimentary cookery skills i learnt from this book.
I have made FlapJacks, Hot Chocolate, Omlette, Poached Eggs, Hot Pot and Lasagna to name a few.
The book is straight-forward and reliable with tempting recipes that will motivate you to start cooking.
All instructions are easy to following the pages are fantastically illustrated with tantalising dishes that are guaranteed to make your mouth water. There is even a glossary of terms at the back; I am now able to understand what Ainsley Harriott means by 'Saute' and 'Braise'.
Impressive - eh?
I can now cook a wonderful risotto following the instructions straight from the back of the packet and have even tried my hand at making hummous (recipee does not feature in the book) - Jamie Oliver eat your heart out!
This book will give you all the confidence you need to start cooking even the simplest of dishes.
Summary: An essential home cookery book
