You can't help feeling sorry for Owl … (Good Night Owl! - Pat Hutchins)
Name: Attachedparent
Advantages: Short and full of lovely sound effects, so it holds a child’s attention Disadvantages: None
My child (now 3) first saw this book read on a TV programme when she was about 18 months old, and was fascinated by it. It’s about poor nocturnal Owl, trying to sleep during the day and getting very frustrated because all the birds and animals in and around his tree make their own particular noises all day and keep him awake. My child enjoys the descriptions of the noises the birds and animals make, and “reads” along with me. Eventually, at nightfall, Owl makes his own special noise and gets his own back on the other noisy lot, which always raises a giggle, no matter how many times we read it. The illustrations are fascinatingly intricate. Summary: |
