Advantages: hilarious, interesting and clever plot and characterisiation, Pratchett's best
Disadvantages: none!
Good Omens is the most entertaining book I have read in a very long time! It is incredibly full of side-splitting wit that never ceases from page to page. I read it without expecting much; I had read many Pratchett novels before and thought they were becoming increasingly uninspiring, so I didn't really know what to expect with Good Omens. It was a sort of last resort book, like the ones you bring on holiday to read etc. but from the first page (seriously) I was engulfed. Written very maturely yet very humorously melding the quite distinct styles of Pratchett (magical and witty) and Gaiman (Atmospheric and even wittier). This book sort of bend nature (both human and natural) and so open up the world to the authors giving them much more freedom yet never making it unreadable at any time. This story charts the progress very cleverly of the last few days of the world; it is very clever in the way that individual stories of characters are told intertwining with the others yet separately. Centering chiefly on the Antichrist (!) and two immortals: Aziraphale, an angel of heaven and Crowley, a fallen angel now on the opposite side yet they have quite oddly formed a lasting friendship. All the characters they meet along the way have their individual charm and quirks which make the book even more immersive. I obviously can't give the plot away, but I whole-heartedly reccommend this book (probably Pratchett's finest) to anyone prepared to let their mind wander from convention. I think that the writing styles, wit and characterisation would make this book appeal to anyone. Give it a go... Harry
