This is a humorous take on the omen series of books. In this book, the same as in the omen, the antichrist is swapped with a human child in order to bring about the end of the world. However, neither good nor evil could predict that their plan would be upset by one of their own side. Namely the Angel Aziraphale and the Demon Crowley and the antichrist Adam Young who received a slightly different upbringing than intended.
Due to a blundering order of Black Nuns Adam ended up with a rather nice English family which was definitely not according to the dark plan.
So as the end of the world draws near, the forces of good and evil are gathering for the last fight, and the Four Horsemen (well, bikers) of the Apocalypse are riding. The only problem is that someone has misplaced, the Antichrist. But everything is proceeding as planned, really, except the Antichrist has developed a fondness for the small English village he's grown up in (and for the Earth as a whole) and he doesn't really want them to come to harm.
Neil Gaiman's and Terry Pratchett's collaboration is an often amusing, sometimes hysterical look at the end of the world gone awry. They have created some memorable creatures, including Crowley, the Bentley-driving demon for whom every music tape turns into Queen singing Bohemian Rhapsody, and Aziraphale, an angel and dealer in rare books. Even the four horsemen have been updated from their traditional roles, with War being a woman, Famine working for a fast food company, and Pestilence having decided to retire (thanks to the marvels of Penicillin made from fungus) and being replaced by Pollution.
This is a very amusing book and is as funny now as it was ten years ago. I have read many books by Terry Pratchett and in my opinion this book is one of his best. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to read a good novel. After all, will it be the end of the world if you don't like it?

Great book for anyone who liked Terry Pratchett but has got a bit bored of the same old stuff.

I've seen this book for sale on Ebay (there is tons of Pratchett stuff on there!) and wondered what it was about. I'm a huge Discworld fan and now I might give this a bash. Great op!

Sorry, I was just about to comment when I rated and my computer crashed. Now I can't think what I was going to say! Darn.
