I bought this book for my fifteen month old daughter, after a self help guide to getting your baby to sleep recommended it as a soothing bed time read. It cost me £4.99 from Amazon and when it arrived, I thought it was the worst children's book I had ever seen. A board book written in the 1940s, the book still has a distinctly pre war feel. The font and illustrations are basic and dated looking, and while many of the pages are just black and white, the pages that are coloured, only feature garish red, orange, green, white and black. The text starts ' In the great green room, There is a red ... Read the complete review

This is a lovely book and comes into it's own, I think, at bedtimes. The content is very simple, the essence of saying "goodnight"to everything before going to sleep. I think this is an extremely nice ending to a child's day, and calms them and soothes them before we leave them for the night. It is a useful idea, actually, for a bedtime ritual with your own child. You can read the story and then the child can say his own "good night's" to favourite toys and mummy, daddy, siblings, etc and then say his prayers, if that is a part of your family ritual. It becomes a special part of the day. I think the charm in this book is actually it's simplicity. ... Read the complete review

This book is 60 years old, and is a lovely tale of a young rabbit who says goodnight to all the things in his room. There are objects and animals, which your child will love to point out, and after it has been read a few times they will love to join in or fill in the gaps for you (my son loves to do this); the rhyming helps them learn, and helps prepare them for bed. The book is quite daring in its use of green and orange colours, but I think it is quite nice, and is different to the usual colours you see in children's books in recent years. They will also like to look at the different striking colours. However, a nice twist with the colours ... Read the complete review

Goodnight Moon is a soothing bedtime story for your children. It is a wonderful work of children's fiction, made just for the younger crowd. Wtitten by Margaret Wise Brown in May of 1984, this 32 page hardcover book was one opf my children's favorites when they were younger. Goodnight Moon was illustrated by Clement Hurd, who did a wonderful job with the adorable pictures within the covers of this book. The words to this story are soft and soothing. They are simple enough for the beginning reader to follow along with the story as their parent is telling the bedtime tale. I have yet to see a child who did not enjoy the of the mouse who ...
