Louise Wener is better known as the lead singer of Sleeper "just another girl fronted band" a phrase she liked so much she had her promoters make the t-shirt. After the demise of Sleeper Louise turned her hand to other money spinners, the first of which was the novel Goodnight Steve McQueen. The title is wasted on anyone who doesn't know who Steve McQueen is as the first chunk of the book features an awful lot of comments about him but fails to mention that he starred in The Great Escape, Bullitt or The Thomas Crown Affair assuming that everyone knows this. I like books, I like it even more when I find a new author who's started out with a bang, and anyone who knows me will know that I'm a big fan of the 'Hornby Style' aka writing about a man in his late twenties finally coming of age (I'm soooooooo not looking forward to my late twenties).
