I have been reading L E Modest Junior for a few years and I still haven't made up my mind whether I like him or not. "Gravity Dreams" seems to be a departure from his usual fantasy setting being set in the future (or a starwars style far past???) and is the story of a "Master of Dzin" although he seems to be a teacher who is infected by Nanites and exiled to a land of higher technology.
