Straw Dogs: Thoughts on Humans and Other Animals - John Gray

Premium Review John Gray Straw Dogs - Worth a read! (238 words)
by Hanash84 - written on 09/08/09 (Useful, 39 readings)
Rating:

human bodies with birds heads. Do not let this put you off though, after all, you shouldn t judge a book by its cover. The book mainly focuses on John Gray s views on the philosophy of the world and the ideas and concepts that many people have adopted and lead their lives by. His views are extremely interesting and he goes where others have not dared. He has an up front and to the point view, which I find very appealing and definitely keeps one interested. One of his main views, is that humans are simply animals, and that the majority of people seem to forget this fact. One of the things he said in the book that really made sense is that of humans having the ability ...

Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus - John Gray

Premium Review Which Planet are you From? (250 words)
by DavidJWest - written on 01/08/00 (Useful, 52 readings)
Rating:

As a male of the species (Homo Sapiens) I have often wondered what goes through the mind of the fairer sex. I read this book hoping to gain an insight into that complex and mysterious subject, and maybe learn how to improve my relationships with these strange creatures. The book is written in a very easy and down to earth style so you needn't worry if you don't have a degree in Psychology. The style is humorous, I found some of the descriptions very true and the author has used some excellent metaphors and drawn comparisons with other cultures to illustrate key points. For example when men have a problem, the author says they like to be left alone for a ...

Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus - John Gray

Premium Review Corrosive generalizations  (293 words)
by srkirk - written on 04/07/00 (Very useful, 262 readings)
Rating:

- most of the text describes how the author thinks women should treat their male partners. Not much is said about how men should treat women. John Gray has made an absolute fortune selling this stuff - he even had a regular spot on 'This Morning' a while back promoting his views. He has written several more books (which I haven't read) since this, his most famous work, but I suspect it's more of the same. It just seems to me to play on people's insecurities - he is telling the reader that they need instructions on how to be proper men and women. Since reading this book, I have found out that John Gray did not disapprove when he discovered that his ...
