Great Expectations (Great Expectations - Charles Dickens)

Advantages: Characters, storyline, dialogue Disadvantages: Third part not so compelling
i really enjoyed reading this book. It is the only work by Dickens that I have read, and it certainly impressed me. The range of characters is brilliant, with each having a name to suit them, and well thought out behavioural traits which convince, while also being caricatures in many ways. The story is unpredictable, brilliantly thought out, and I found this genuinely difficult to put down. The dialogue is well written, and the whole thing carries with it a wonderful sense of humour. A classic text, and a great read. Summary: |
