My husband wouldn't be much for shopping especially with the crowds around at Christmas. Following me complaining as I unwrapped 10 items from Argos one Christmas morning.(I questioned the amount of effort he had put in to shopping for his beloved wife he claimed "but I had to go to two Argos's, the first didn't have everything") like that excused it we have reached a compromise. Now I tend to make a very long wish list on Amazon, that way I get pressies I really want which aren't all kitchen related but am still surprised as I don't know which ones I'm going to get untill I actually unwrap them.
