Simon R Green is a British novelist who first burst onto the scene when he was offered the opportunity to write the novelisation of a then little known, unregarded film starring a mid level actor. Accepting the job as a way to pay the rent, Green wrote the novelisation of Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, expecting little. When the film's success soared, so did the book, and Green did very well out of it. Green’s first book, ignoring the above as a digression, albeit a helpful one, was “Blue Moon Rising”, a fantasy starring Prince Rupert, the second son who has now become a problem.
