The day after Grisham completed "A Time to Kill", he began work on another novel, the story of a hotshot young attorney lured to an apparently perfect law firm that was not what it appeared. John Grisham has just celebrated the releases of his 12th novel, "Painted House". He has come a long way since 1989, when he was working 60 hours a week as a lawyer. In his spare time, he had a hobby which would alter his life forever. He loved wrtiting stories. There is also some cause for celebration with the release of this novel, as it is the first novel he has written which has no legal undertones, and there are not any lawyers in sight. "Painted House" is a work of fiction. It was inspired by Grisham's childhood in rural Arkansas. Grisham was a successful lawyer until one day at the Dessoto County courthouse, ... I should point out before I write this opinion that John Grisham is my favourite author. I am not one of these people who claim to be his number one fan, as I like to think that I am still objective about all of his work. All too often you get people that claim all of a particular person's work is superb and whilst there is the odd exception I tend to try and remain as objective as possible. So what is it about Grisham's work that makes him stand out from the rest? I think the most important thing from my point of view is the legal thrillers that he produces. Picking up the Book. I pick up the book in the shop and turn it over to look at the blurb. I see a glimpse of a long an exciting tale, so I decide to buy the book. I take it home and begin to read it. 2. Starting the Book. I begin reading, and within the first three chapters, an exciting incident has occurred. This is usually a murder or some other sort of crime being comitted. The book has immediatly got my attention. 3. After the 3rd Chapter. As ... Read the complete review

I have read many John Grisham books, at the moment I am reading the Runaway Jury. In my opinion he is an excellent author and has written some fabulous books. Although as I read his books I could see a pattern emerging, all the books start off with an interesting and thrilling start and then they tail off towards the end, with nothing that has as much action as the opening paragraphs. This is seen in the ‘Street Lawyer” and “The Client” Don’t get me wrong I thoroughly enjoy his books and my favourite is the Client, but I just wish that there could be more action throughout the book. ...
