A witty, humurous book with dragons (Guards! Guards! - Terry Pratchett)
Member Name: Kevin_C
Advantages: Dragons, very funny Disadvantages: None This is my favourite of the 25+ books hat make up Terry Pratchett's Discworld series of books. Situated on top of 4 giant elephants who in turn stand on the back of the great A'Turin, which is none other than a turtle (or a space turtle according to the books). The 8th book in the series, most of the action takes place in a town called Ankh-Morpork. The town has a serious threat hanging over it at the moment though - there is a dragon in the city and it won't budge, causing mayhem in it's wake and sending the city up in flames. The book introduces the central characters of Carrot, who goes onto to become quite a respected member of the city watch in later novels and also a rich mad lady, - who ends up becoming Commander Vimes's wife. If you are gong to buy it, don't get the 25th anniversary edition, get a paperback with Josh Kirby's brilliant artwork on the cover - he knows exactly how to draw Discowlrd scenes and captures the book perfectly. Summary: A great novel for all Discworld fans |
