Advantages: the first of a saga?

Disadvantages: you can't put it down

This is the best pratchett book i have read.

It is the first book that mentions the watch. It tells the story of how carot came to be in the watch, and what happened when a man tries to get power by somoning a dragon.

A friend of mine who has read all of the books maintains that this is the best one, and i have to agree, that this is certainly one of the best books by this author.

it is great how the watch manages to salvage it's reputation, and is the introduction for a good few stories that followed.

it's nice to see character development through the books, and vimes life story makes for quite interesting reading

if you like the author, buy it. if you don't like the author, buy it and change your mind.
