Zip her up and she's as hidden as she's going to get! Anita Blake raises zombies from their graves for Animators Inc, and is also the legal vampire executioner for the fine state of Missouri. In fact, her kill record has caused the vampire community to refer to her as The Executioner with all the implied capitals. One of her best friends, Edward, is a cold-hearted professional killer known in the same circles as simply Death. The Anita Blake series has 17 books in the collection, first published in 1993 with Guilty Pleasures as the introduction to her life working as an Animator. Guilty Pleasures is a vampire strip club where all of Anita Blakes troubles start off when a supposed friend ... Read the complete review

Check your crucifix at the door and step into the alternative reality of present-day St Louis, Missouri, USA and meet some nightlife that wants to do more than just bite. 'Willie McCoy had been a jerk before he died. His being dead didn't change that.' The monsters have crawled out of the closet, from under the bed and vampires are legal citizens with rights. 'Welcome to the world's only vampire strip club.' But vampires aren't the only local colour, there is an assortment of ghouls, zombies and Were animals, oh my. '"I've never seen a blond rat before."'
