I saw this book first advertised on the Tube - which made me dither over buying it - which I'm grateful for, because it meant for the first time in months I've read a good book! The basic plot is the attempt by a group of genuises to make a Truth Machine to basically save society. Unless such a device is constructed, they believe that humanity will self-destruct as progress reaches a level whereby complete destruction of humanity by a small group, or an individual is possible. The author's style or writing leads a little something to be desired, but this is more than made up for by good characterisation, and a plot which pulls you along. The main caharcter, ...
